Itโs becoming more and more common to see a therapist in the U.S. In the past, people used to feel embarrassed about getting counseling. They would use words like โcrazyโ and โshrinkโ to describe the experience.

However, as more and more people are learning about mental health, more people are also getting counseling. As someone who studied psychology in college, Iโm very happy to see this trend. I think everyone needs counseling!

In the U.S., it can be quite expensive to get therapy. You have to make sure you find someone that is covered by your insurance.

You also usually need to get a referral from a general practitioner. Then youโll need to see a psychiatrist on top of that if you need to start taking medications. It can be a long and complicated process, but itโs worth it.

Currently, about 20-30% of Americans have been to therapy. Iโm happy to see more people talking about therapy in Korea as well. Itโs a great trend!
