๐๏ธDesert Adventures in Arizona
์ ๋ฆฌ์กฐ๋ ์ฌ๋ง์ผ๋ก ๋ ๋์!
My family lives in Phoenix, Arizona, which is part of the Sonoran Desert. Many Koreans may never get the chance to experience life in the desert, so I wanted to share a little about it here. The desert is much hotter and drier than most places.

In Phoenix, the average summer temperature is 105โ115ยฐF (40โ46ยฐC), with highs of 118โ120ยฐF (48โ49ยฐC). Humidity is typically very low, usually ranging from 10โ20% and occasionally dropping below 5%. Winter, on the other hand, is mild and pleasant, with daytime temperatures of 65โ75ยฐF (18โ24ยฐC) and humidity between 20โ40%.

The desert also has unique weather. Dust storms are common, with the largest called haboobsโmassive walls of dust that can block the sun and force drivers to stop. From late June to September, the monsoon season brings sudden thunderstorms that flood streets and sometimes knock over trees.

Wildlife here is very different from that in Korea. You might see jackrabbits, coyotes, or even rattlesnakes while hiking. Because thereโs little shade and the air is so dry, hikers must carry plenty of water to avoid overheating.

Nature in the desert is striking. Tall saguaro cacti can live 150 years and grow taller than houses, while sunsets paint the sky with bright pinks, oranges, and purples. The beauty is breathtaking.
